Open Transport Data - Inspiring Talks

Description

The first session of in the open transport data stream will be opend by a Keynote on the challenges and chances of opening up transport data for future mobility and smart cities by a opinion leader from the transport data reuser industrie. After the keynote the “Transport Data Helsinki Declaration” from PSI sectorial workshop will be introduced and discussed with the expert audience. The first session will conclude with three short talks on User-experience: social, mobile, integrated, commuting vs. travelling.

Part 1. Introducing the “Transport Data Helsinki Declaration” from PSI sectorial workshop by Marc de Vries and Pieter Colpaert (30min)

Part 2. User-experience: social, mobile, integrated, commuting vs. travelling (60min)

Description: Short talks about enhancing the user experience for both travellers and commuters. An introduction will be given about what we mean by “transport data”, and what we will be talking about: social mobile transport apps, integration and enhancing your transport.

  • Social mobile transport apps by Hannes Van De Vreken (Belgium, iRail) - 20min

Description: How can checking in on moving objects enhance the commuting experience: * The app knows the exact location at any given time, not through GPS but through expectation * Can push real-time messages when a delay is experienced * Can inform your social network

A presentation will be given using wireframes & a preview from the closed beta of the new version of iRail.be.

  • Integration by Stefan de Konink (Netherlands, re-use community, TBC) - 20min

Description: How can transport data be integrated in our everyday life? From the moment we’re still asleep until we come home? Moving is something we spend a lot of time doing every day and therefore we want it integrated in our schedule, in our apps, and we want to get notified of any changes quickly. What does the future look like?
