Virtual Water

The Virtual water installation shows the discrepancy between the perceived and the actual amounts of water consumed in our everyday life. It attempts to awaken the interest of the audience in water management. By showing what quantity of water is needed to produce a glass of orange juice or milk, a cup of coffee or tea, inside the container of the drink in question, the project reminds about the complexity of human economy. Through this interactive installation, where the actual amount of water required to produce a cup of coffee shoots from the tap to a coffee cup beneath, the relationship is made tangibly very clear. In parallel, following the same logic, a more metaphorical interpretation shows distorted everyday vessels. These images give a sense of the disproportion between the perceived and the actually consumed amounts of water.
