supergrau is

  …a typography made of concrete
  …meta-streetart
  …foldable molds for casting concrete
  …an application

supergrau consists of several parts:

Typography

In contrast to printed typography, cast typography has also requirements in terms of stability. Right angles are predominant to emphasize the basic characteristics of concrete.

Application

The application for generating the cutting patterns was programmed in Flash and is available under http://supergrau.allesblinkt.com. The font is stored as a XML file on the server. The text entered by the user is transformed into a 3d preview. Furthermore it is possible to modify the dimension and thickness of the available material. Once the user has finished entering the required information, the application generates the templates for cutting and folding the molds. These templates can be downloaded as a PDF for cutting manully or with a laser cutter.

Assembling

The cut-out parts are folded and stuck together, and then the mold is filled with concrete or plaster. After the drying time is over, the form can be removed.
