Äänipahvilaatikko

Artist: Toni Laakso

Toni Laakso was born in the mid-70's and has since spent his time lurking on the sidelines, looking for opportunities to make little adjustments here and there to the way world operates. Toni's favorite moments are when previously unrelated things come together like they were meant to be that way, yet completely unplanned.

Creation of Äänipahvilaatikko was one of those moments. On the outside it appears to be an ordinary cardboard box. However when plugged in the power outlet it comes alive. Left untouched the box generates acoustic feedback on a rather pleasant low frequency. It's not just for creating ambience though, the box can also be used as a musical instrument. One of the walls on the box is touch sensitive: moving a finger across it modulates the frequency of the feedback.

Interactive Installations, presentations - Saturday 13:00
The project is on display in Kiasma seminar room throughout the festival.
