Using the mindset of the original Jamaican pioneers of Dub and applying it to new electronic music, Ukiyo-e utilise huge basslines with digital glitches and electronica to mix music of both intellectual and emotional depth.

Ukiyo-e looks to bring this music to a wider audience and also to promote interaction with other artforms - film, video and performance. Ukiyo-e has been in residence at the bar of the WY Playhouse – an open and dramatic space that provides an alternative to the usual music venue interior, creating an experience closer to the 'coffee shop' than the club, and what is more - its free!
