Hilmar Jensson first picked up the guitar at the age of six but started studying formally at age eleven. His studies, ended with a BM degree from Berklee College of Music. Since then his interest has change considerably and although still working in many diff-erent genres his work mainly focuses on improvisation and electronic compositions.

His main bands/projects are: Jim Black's AlasNoAxis, Kjor [with Skuli Sverrisson] and of course Kitchen Motors Band.

Hilmar has performed and / or recorded with, Tim Berne, Kevin Drumm, Rafael Toral, Eyvind Kang, Leo Smith, Greg Bendian, Jim Black, Chris Speed, Arve Henriksen, Briggan Krauss, Terje Isungset, Per Jorgensen and Skuli Sverrisson to name a few.

He has recorded 4 CDs of his own and appeared on 20 others. He has performed in the US, Canada, France, Holland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Indonesia, Bulgaria, Turkey, England, Ireland as well as in the Nordic countries.
