Erkizia is a multidisciplinary artist from the Basque country in Spain. He studied Radio and TV in Bilbao (1996-1999), and after some collaborations and work with different media (magazines: El Tubo, Entzun, ttipi-ttapa, Radio Stations: Irola irala irratia, Xorroxin irratia, Newspapers: Euskadunon egunkaria, garaÉ) he worked in various other disciplines as designer, illustrator, internet, curator and journalism but specially video and music production. His principal characteristics are investigation, some kind of curiosity on any art or communication form and diversity. In that way, his works shows a strange simplicity but practically always made more complex by participating in different collaborations. He has collaborated with very different artists like photographers (Jorge Llorella, Asier Gogortza), videoartists (Mateo Austin), sculptors (Juanjo Aranguren), programmers (Ima Morillas, IXI software) and of course, a large list of international musicians (Alejandra & Aeron, TV pow ,Voodoo muzak, exxon valdez, Mike Irazoki, Mark Cunnigham, sinuose, kobak, mattin, rosy parlane, Alex Garacotche, tzesne, juego, Enrike Hurtado, Akauzazte, borrokan) He also organises a yearly international festival in Bera (Nafarroa) ERTZ , dedicated to experimental arts and collaborates with more Art centers like Berako Kultur Etxea (Bera), Montehermoso kulturunea (Vitoria-Gasteiz) or Arteleku (Donostia-San Sebastian). Currently his work is principally concentrated on music collaborations, solo works and installations. |
